Lars Kepler’s immensely successful crime novel Hypnotisören (The Hypnotist) will be adapted for the screen by Svensk Filmindustri (SF) in co-production with Sonet Film. SF has also acquired an option on the film rights for the following books in the series about Detective Inspector Joona Linna.
Huge interest in the film rights“The interest in the film rights has been huge since before the book was published”, states Jenny Thor at BGA. “We are convinced that SF and Sonet Film in cooperation will adapt the book in the best possible way.”
“The quick and suggestive tempo in strongly suspenseful movies are the greatest source of inspiration for us when writing as Lars Kepler. The very idea of The Hypnotist being turned into a movie, makes us both happy and full of expectations ,” commented Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, authors behind the pseudonym Lars Kepler.
The novel has everything it takes to be turned into a fantastic movie“The Hypnotist is an enormously suspenseful story with a driven filmic narrative, and has everything it takes to be turned into a fantastic movie. We are delighted and proud that the authors have chosen us as partners in this project”, says Tobias Lennér, CEO Sweden at SF.
